Euxia at the 19th Panhellenic Congress of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

The 19th Panhellenic Congress of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation highlighted to the scientific community the new scientific tools and collaborations that can offer improved functionality, analgesia and improve the quality of life through health services provided to patients.

Euxia actively participated in the conference with the presence of its doctors in a round table and with the presentation of papers. More specifically, the scientific director E. Kandylakis chaired the round table on ''Complementary Therapies'' where balancing methods, the use of Dry Needle in the treatment of musculoskeletal pain and applied kinesiology were analyzed.

The physicist of our center Sgoutzakos Socrates presented the paper ''Treatment of chronic pain in neurological patients with spastic rabocranium through botulinum toxin infusion''. Spastic Ravocranium (cervical dystonia) is a neurological condition that affects the muscles of the neck, causing the head to tilt either sideways, backwards or too far forward. Dystonia is characterised by continuous or intermittent muscle contractions; these lead to involuntary movements and unusual positions of the respective body parts. The use of botulinum toxin seems to contribute significantly to the therapeutic management of patients with chronic pain due to spastic radiculopathy.

The presence of Euexia continued with the presentation of the paper ''The effectiveness of tecar therapy in pain after a transfemoral hip fracture'' again by Socrates Sgoutzakos, a physiatrist. Tecar therapy is a radio wave technology which is combined with therapeutic manipulation and mobilization protocols to provide faster tissue healing, pain reduction and short return of the patient to daily life. It activates biological mechanisms in a thermal and non-thermal manner while energy is transferred to the tissues through appropriate surface electrodes. The results of the study showed that tecar therapy is a therapeutic tool that can help reduce recovery time, accelerate healing, help reduce pain and most importantly is safe to use.
