His doctor rehabilitation centre Euxia in Thessaloniki, Eleftherios Stefas was a guest speaker at the recent 4th Panhellenic Spinal Cord Injury Conference of the EEFIAP, held on 13-15 December 2019, at the "Ioannis Vellidis" Conference Center in Thessaloniki.
The main theme of this year's conference was "Lifelong Health after Spinal cord injury". The Spinal Cord Injury Conference addressed specific topics, such as: Pain, MND in Childhood, Mothers with MND, Sexual Health, Prevention and Treatment of Secondary Conditions such as Spasticity, Neurogenic Cyst and Necrogenic Bowel, Tendonitis, Sarcopenia, Osteoporosis and Fragility Fractures. Lectures and sessions also focused on innovative Methods to mitigate the effects of CMD.
Mr. Stefas thoroughly analyzed the conservative treatment of pain after Spinal Cord Injury, developing all the innovative methods of pain management and the pharmaceutical approach.
Today, people with spinal cord injury have a longer life expectancy and achieve greater functional independence as a result of improved medical and pharmacological care, physiotherapy and technological advances. In recent years, much more effort has been made to improve the quality of life and their reintegration into society, as all of the above contribute to a better quality of life.
Part of the work of a medically supervised rehabilitation programme is the design, implementation and evaluation of a programme of interventions aimed at achieving optimal outcomes in terms of function, social participation and activities.
