Do I need to continue rehabilitation treatments after discharge from Euxia? Does the NHS cover the cost?
The rehabilitation of a vascular stroke is not completed with hospitalization at the Wellness Rehabilitation Center.
Discharge is carried out either because the patient is in good condition and no longer needs hospitalisation - stay, or because the patient is in good health and Insurance Institution of EOPYY does not cover additional time.
The patient, however, must continue with the rehabilitation treatments, with the recommendation of his/her treating Physiatrist, because he/she has the potential to continue to improve for months, even years.
The rate of improvement is, of course, slowing down.
For this reason, EOPYY provides you with rehabilitation treatment programmes, which it calls "Day Hospitalisation", without accommodation.
Euxia undertakes to facilitate you and prepare all the necessary documentation in order for the patient to continue his rehabilitation program.
These treatments are fully covered by EOPYY without any financial burden.
What is the length of hospitalisation provided by the EOPYY Insurance Institution?
Before the patient is discharged from the Hospital or Private Clinic where he/she is hospitalized and admitted to Euxia, the attending physician - specifically the Director of the Clinic - submits an electronic medical opinion to the competent EOPYY service in order to approve the hospitalization in a Rehabilitation Center.
The EOPYY doctors examine the request, decide and approve or reject the hospitalisation for 1 or 2 months.
Is it possible to extend hospitalisation for a longer period of time with EOPYY coverage?
Of course, there is the possibility of an extension, depending on the patient's health condition and improvement. The person in charge Physician of Wellness who is monitoring the patient, may request an additional 2 months initially and repeat the request if it is deemed necessary for the patient.
How and when can I be informed about the progress of my patient's health?
The doctors of Wellness inform the responsible relative at regular intervals by appointment, either by telephone, or in their presence, but also by telephone when required.
The information is about general health, medical problems, the rehabilitation programme, the course of improvement and the next step of rehabilitation, so that the family can get a clear picture of the progress of their loved one.
Are there other treatments that can help for better and faster results?
The aim of the scientific team of the Wellness, is to find solutions to patients' problems.
It is informed of any new development concerning the rehabilitation of the stroke and is able to provide new therapeutic techniques for better and faster results.

Will my patient be able to walk again?
It depends on the severity of the stroke, age, general health, the condition of the heart and lungs and other factors.
Most patients who have suffered vascular stroke, at the Wellness Rehabilitation Centre, will acquire the ability to walk either on their own or with assistance.
The aids are usually a cane and you may need a brace to keep the ankle in the right position
Will my patient be able to stay home alone?
The patient with a vascular stroke, immediately after the discharge from Euxia, it is not advisable to stay alone at home, no matter how good the state of health, because the risks are many and serious.
Examples include medication errors, failure to follow medical instructions, an emergency situation, and readjustment to home for the elderly person is difficult.
In addition, to reduce the risks, modifications to the home will be needed, particularly in the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom.
Who will show us how to handle our patient when they return home?
The People of Wellness, therapists, nurses and doctors are available to educate and advise you on how to handle your person at home, what to watch out for and what to avoid.
